Keeping skin healthy and happy needs a smart approach with a good regimen and great products. This winter, go an extra mile to keep your skin refreshed and pamper it with all the kindness and warmth.

Loads of water
This should be your No. 1 rule! Keep sipping on water throughout the day to stay hydrated. Always remember, water is an excellent lubricant for soft and supple skin. Aim to drink atleast 3 litres of water a day. Water helps you get rid of toxins and ensures a younger looking skin.
Cleanser
You may need to switch to more hydrating cleansers that are moisture rich – a gentle face wash that deep cleans without taking away your skin’s natural moisture.

 

Toner
Applying the right toner moisturises your skin creating a shield against your skin from bacteria. A toner also helps to normalize your pH levels. Opt for alcohol free toners as having an alcohol infused toner would make your skin super dry. Use your toner as soon as you finish with your cleanser and it will leave your skin feeling refreshed.

 

Moisturiser
Go for an oil based moisturiser other than a water based one. Choose a smart formula that has natural and moisturising ingredients. The oil forms a protective layer on your skin and shields it from the windy waves.

Sunscreen
Winter sunshine does more damage to your skin rather than soothing the body. No matter what weather it is, slathering sunscreen is really important. To protect your skin from the harsh UV rays, put on a generous amount of sunscreen before heading out.

 

Under Eye Care
Winter demands extra care for the skin under your eyes and the eyes are always the first to show the signs of winter dryness. The colder season makes your under eye skin dull and dry making it more prone to wrinkles. Hydrate your under eyes using an efficient under eye cream or almond oil to cure under eye circles. Apply an eye cream every night and eliminate the possibilities of dull and puffy eyes. Some important elements in your eye cream should be – Vitamin A & E.
Hydrating lip balms
Come winters and our lips are dry, flaky and chapped. It’s time to re stock your favorite lip balms for the season. Choose the ones that are hydrating and equally moisturising. Your ideal winter lip balm must have nourishing ingredients like castor seed oil, beeswax, shea butter, essential oils, to name a few.

Hand cream
Winter chilly waves make our hands pale and lifeless and snatch away all the goodness. Give your hands a heavy dose of nourishment using a body butter or a thick moisturising hand cream. Take very good care of your cuticles as who likes dry skin flaking around your nails?!

Pro tip – Avoid washing your hands repeatedly with a soap cleanser, instead use sanitiser. Sanitisers kill 99.99% germs without having to make your hands look dry.

 

Cracked feet
Treat feet at night with all the tenderness. Occasionally dip your feet in lukewarm water, use a pumice stone to scrape off the dead skin and follow with a thick layer of petroleum jelly. Cover your feet with a pair of woollen socks.

 

Bodycare
This winter season, keep your showers short! Avoid bathing in excessive hot showers as this can strip off your body’s natural oil barrier. A hot tub time may feel like a luxury, but it can wreak havoc on your skin. Turn down the water temperature and switch to luke warm water to keep your skin hydrated.

 

Haircare
Dandruff issues are pretty common in winter season due to dryness in scalp. Do frequent hot oil massages to keep dandruff in control. Use hot oil + lemon therapy  once to twice a week to get rid of dandruff. Apply a few drops of serum to control frizz and flyaways.
